Hip pain, assessed the way you move.

The hip and pelvis carry you up the trail, onto the horse and through every step of the day. I assess how they move and load, then treat what I find.

What I treat

  • Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
  • Hip bursitis
  • Hip impingement
  • Tendonitis around the hip
  • Muscle strains of the hip and thigh
  • Rehabilitation after hip surgery
  • Hip and pelvic pain in pregnancy and after birth

How I treat it

I look at the hip together with the low back, the pelvis and the feet. Treatment is hands on: manual therapy, mobilization, soft tissue release and Gunn IMS dry needling where it fits, with strength and control work built around what you want to get back to.

When a collapsed arch or a leg length difference is part of the story, custom-made orthotics help even out how the hips are loaded.

03

Your first visit

  1. 01A 60 to 90 minute evaluation: your history, how the pain started, what makes it better and worse, and a hands-on assessment of how you move.
  2. 02Treatment the same day, so you leave with less pain and a clear understanding of what is going on.
  3. 03A plan built around what matters to you, with a home program you can actually do.

Questions

Good to know.

What is sacroiliac joint dysfunction?

The sacroiliac joints connect your spine to your pelvis. When they move too much or too little, they can cause pain low in the back, the buttock or the groin. It is common in pregnancy and after falls.

Do you treat hip pain after surgery?

Yes. Surgical rehabilitation of the hip is part of my practice, and I work with your surgeon’s protocol.

Do I need a referral?

No. Montana allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can call me directly. It is always wise to check whether your specific insurance requires a physician referral for reimbursement.

How do I make an appointment?

Call or text (406) 871-1751, or email tami.ellis@protonmail.com. Tell me a little about what is going on and when you are free. Visits are by appointment only.
