Neck pain and headaches, looked at as a whole.
Headaches often start in the neck and upper back. I look at the whole picture, how you sit, work, sleep and carry yourself, and treat what I find with hands-on care and needling.

01
What I treat
- Neck pain and stiffness, trouble turning your head
- Tension headaches
- Migraine
- Pain between the shoulder blades and in the upper back
- Pain from desk work, driving and screens
- Neck pain after a fall or a whiplash injury
02
How I treat it
I assess your cervical and thoracic spine, your shoulders, your jaw and your posture. Treatment is one on one and hands on: vertebral mobilization, myofascial release, trigger point release, deep tissue massage and neural mobilization.
Gunn IMS dry needling can release tight neck and upper back muscles that feed headaches. Postural work and a home program build the strength to hold the gains between visits.
03
Your first visit
- 01A 60 to 90 minute evaluation: your history, how the pain started, what makes it better and worse, and a hands-on assessment of how you move.
- 02Treatment the same day, so you leave with less pain and a clear understanding of what is going on.
- 03A plan built around what matters to you, with a home program you can actually do.
Questions
Good to know.
Can physical therapy help migraine?
Migraine and tension headaches are both part of my practice. When the neck and upper back contribute to your headaches, treating them can help. I will ask about your headache history and work alongside your physician.
Is neck pain from desk work treatable?
Yes. We treat the stiffness and tight muscles, then look at how you sit and work so the pain does not keep coming back.
Do you treat the jaw too?
Yes. TMJ jaw pain often travels with neck pain and headaches, and I treat it in the clinic.
Do I need a referral?
No. Montana allows direct access to physical therapy, so you can call me directly. It is always wise to check whether your specific insurance requires a physician referral for reimbursement.
How do I make an appointment?
Call or text (406) 871-1751, or email tami.ellis@protonmail.com. Tell me a little about what is going on and when you are free. Visits are by appointment only.
